Gilt Groupe invites you to our first “Gilt Expert Talk” CHRIS WANSTRATH is co-founder of GitHub and an Isaac Asimov fan. Chris will take us “inside GitHub” where we will look at all the pieces that together make up the social coding site. He will take a look at how GitHub process millions of background jobs, page requests, and git requests, while the teamstill manages to add new features and fight fires. In addition, we will look at how GitHub's business works and the guiding philosophy behind it, for any aspiring entrepreneurs in the audience. LEAH CULVER is co-founder and lead developer of the social network and micro-blogging website Pownce, which was acquired by blog juggernaut Six Apart in November 2008. Now a software engineer at Six Apart, Leah uses her experience with Pownce to develop large scale social applications for future Six Apart projects. Leah will discuss OAuth and OEmbed which are two popular open web specifications for website APIs. She will review the basics of both OAuth and OEmbed, the motivations behind creating API standards, and how you can use OAuth and OEmbed to improve your site's API
